Hebrew in the park

After getting the kids to school today Keren and I went fruit shopping and then to the park next door to meet my Israeli friend.  It turns out that they covered the park with an awning so now it’s the hot place to be since it’s not too sunny there anymore.  There were about 5 Israeli mothers there and boy was the Hebrew flowing.  I tried my best to keep up and even exchanged a phone number!!  I hope to be able to get there at least once a week until rainy season so that I can practice my Hebrew!

Afterwards, I stopped at the supermarket to grab a couple of things and then home to put Keren in for a nap.  She was zonked by the time we got home at 11:30 and she wound up sleeping until 2!!  I asked Robin to pick Ben up and take him home with her.  He and Eitan got a ride to English and then I picked them up along with a little girl who lives down the block.

Ben and I did homework while Talia was in English and then she came home and we did homework together.  Her friend came over and they all played nicely until dinner.

They walked her home around 6 and stayed there to play for a few minutes.   It was beautiful out tonight so Keren and I hung out in the dark outside waiting for them to come home.

The kids have been beating the crap out of each other and we’ve decided to stay out of it and see what happens.  So far no one has gone to the hospital but it’s been getting pretty bad.  Today Ben complained that Talia did something to him and her response was to go over to him and punch him in the stomach.   That was pretty much the straw that broke the camel’s back and I punished her.  When she came down I told them both that the next person to hit the other person will be grounded for the week.  They will not be allowed to go to any fun chugim (they still have to go to English) and they will have to come home after school and have no play dates.  That seemed to have gotten their attention (for now at least) and they behaved the rest of the day.

Another new thing I am trying is a half hour of TV at the end of the day before bed.  I’ve done it for years and it’s stopped since we’ve moved.  Now my problem is that I have Ben asking to watch TV all the time and me saying no all the time.  Tonight Talia asked if they could watch for half an hour after their showers and I said yes and it went very well.  I think that if I institute this then there will  be a set time to watch TV and there won’t be any more arguments over it.  We’ll see if it works…

Tomorrow is my cray day where I am running back and forth to English chug all day b/c the kids don’t have it back to back like they did today.  I also told Ben I would take him for a haircut b/c he’s decided that his hair is too long (it’s been getting shorter and shorter) and he doesn’t like the way it looks with a kippah any longer!!  How funny is that??  So we are going to cut it very short and I told Eric to pick  up one of those buzzers b/c if Ben wants to keep his hair very short then it is going to cost us a lot of money and I might as well figure out how to do it myself instead.

Tonight I didn’t get to play tennis b/c 2 players are out, one due to injury and another is sick.  So I am home and I had a couple of glasses of wine that Eric and I started over the chag and I am going to hopefully have an early night!
