Flu Shots

Shabbat was really nice.  I think I might write that about every week when I am talking about Shabbat.  It’s funny.  This time it really was extra nice b/c Ben was gone the whole day!  We went to shul and a friend of Ben’s asked him to come for lunch.  At first he said no.  I had to remind him that he always gets upset when Talia has a friend for lunch and I tell him he’s too young.  So he said yes and he went!  He had a great time.  I met them with Talia at the Moadon Noar to see the presentations that each shevet of Benei Akivah had done and then we went to the park for an hour.  After about an hour the boy’s mom was ready to go and she invited Ben back to their house again.  So he went back and Eric didn’t pick him up until 4:30.

When Shabbat was over we fed the kids, got them showered and ran out to the basketball courts for daglanut and to see the new kids joining Benei Akivah get their shevet name.  It was really cute.

Sat. night Talia woke Eric up to tell him that her stomach hurt.  This morning we all got up and Talia said again that her stomach hurt.  I had too much going on this morning and I sent her to school figuring that every day her stomach hurts, so she says, and every day she is fine.  I took the kids to school and Eric to the airport and then came back to give Keren breakfast.  Then Keren and I went to her firts book club meeting.  It went well.  Keren was cute and not too loud.  One of the other moms brought her baby and Keren was glad to play with her.  At one point Keren decided to lay down on the dog’s bed!  If only the dog was downstairs, she would have had a field day.

During the meeting the call I was kind of expecting from Talia’s school saying that she had thrown up and I should go get her.  I excused myself and ran to her school.  I was glad that I brought the car to the meeting and that I didn’t have to first walk all the way home with Keren.  So I picked up Talia and she showed me the spot where she threw up, ewww, and brought her home where she continued to be sick for most of the morning.  At least when Talia is sick she can throw up herself and make it to the toilet, unlike the other two kids!

I picked up Ben from school and fed Keren and Ben lunch while Talia napped on and off.  After lunch we decided to get some fresh air.  It was warm today.  The house was cold but the air was warm outside.  Talia has been asking me to ask her friend’s mother about this “goomie” that she bought her.  They use it to play chinese jump rope and all the girls have the same one and she wanted it.  She has one at home but she says her official one doesn’t stretch as long as the other girls’ ropes.  So I asked the mom where she got it and she told me.  So I took the kids to the craft store and we picked one up.  Talia found it right away.  It turns out that this goomie is a long piece of elastic!!!!  it was 6 shekels.  Too funny!!  I got Ben some window art since we were there and he felt that he should get something if Talia was getting something.  So now Talia can play chinese jump rope and I can fix anything elastic that might need fixing.

When we came home Talia did some homework and Ben and Keren colored.  Ben did his window art and Keren decided to use her body as an easel:

The rest of the day we kind of just hung out.

In the evening Talia dosed a little more while I fed the kids dinner and then I took Keren and Ben for flu shots.  Ben went first.  He was very, very brave!  He sat on my lap while the nurse gave him his shot and he didn’t say a word.  When I looked at him and asked him how it was he had tears in his eyes!  he was so cute.  He didn’t want to cry. I went next and then Keren went.  She started crying before the nurse even touched us.  She has recently had vaccinations so I think she remembered that when I hold her and roll up her pants it means something is going to hurt!  So now we are all set except for Talia and Eric.  I am not worried about Eric, he can take care of himself, but I want to take Talia at the end of the week b/c she’s already missed enough school.  I don’t want her missing more school b/c of the flu!

Here are some cute pictures I’ve taken of Keren around the house this past week:

I am sure there was more to write but I have to get to sleep early tonight and it’s already almost 9.  I am nervous that Ben was complaining of a headache and if he wakes up sick in the middle of the night I will be zonked tomorrow morning with no one here to help.  Off to bed!
