Ben helps

Today was the usual typical day.  We had a substitute teacher in Ulpan today so it wasn’t the most productive of Ulpan classes but I came away with something so I was happy. Unfortunately my teacher has a sore throat and I don’t think she’ll be coming in again tomorrow.  Oh well.  Half the class emptied out after the first break!  I stayed.

I wanted to write about something so funny that Ben said on Friday.  Talia was telling him that she went to see a movie at the mall that we were in and Ben asked if he was there too when she went.  Soo she told him that he didn’t go with her.  So he said, “Was I a piece of dust??”  I immediately figured out what he meant but Eric missed the whole exchange.  He has been having problems understanding the whole before-you-are-born issue.  It seems that Talia told him that before you are born you are a piece of dust.  I think she thought he would best understand things that way.  So he asked, “was I a piece of dust?”  So cute!!

So I have another cute story, but not quite as cute.  I wanted to buy stickers today for something and I couldn’t remember the word for sticker in Hebrew. So on an off chance I figured I would ask Ben if he knew the word.  Wouldn’t you know it, he knew it without even pausing to think and he said it with his cute Israeli accent!  I can’t believe it’s starting already that Ben knows the words before I do.  It’s great having him around.

Lastly, before I go up to bed, tonight we ran to the makolet because I needed to get 2 things that I forgot in my whirlwind of a shopping spree today in the 45 minutes I had before I had to pick ben up from school and Talia saw wraps there.  So she asked me to buy them to make her lunch with.  I asked what she would put in them and she told me she wanted to eat them plain.  I said no way.  So she said she would eat them with salad.  Next thing I know, I am making her a wrap for her for lunch tomorrow with the following ingredients:  chummus, a thousand island dressing, lettuce and red peppers!  Crazy child.  She had some of it tonight before dinner and she loved it.  Then, Ben wanted the same lunch that his friend Chen has.  So I had to buy him hot dog rolls (I have to blog about the hot dog rolls here tomorrow night) and inside the roll I had to put a sliced hard boiled egg, mayo and cucumber!  CRAZY CHILDREN!  It took me a good 20 minutes to make lunch for the kids tomorrow and that was after I cooked the egg!  What happened to good old fashioned peanut butter and jelly??
